The first technology and microfabrication center opened in Russia.

24.12.2021

On September 29, 2021, the first technology and microfabrication center in Russia was officially opened. It was created on the basis of the Federal Scientific and Clinical Center for Physico-Chemical Medicine of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA).

The microfabrication center can conduct scientific and applied research as well as development, design work, prototyping, and even pilot batches of medical devices and diagnostic systems based on microfluidic and nanotechnologies.

This project is intended to reduce the time between the idea and the experimental research, between the design model and the prototype, between the working model and the small-scale product. In a short time the center has already demonstrated the possibility of implementing this idea with concrete examples, the FMBA said.

The center has assembled a set of technological processes to create special chips and devices for in vitro diagnostics. In particular, specialists of the center developed Isascreen-8 portable analyzer for detection of DNA and RNA of infectious agents including SARS-CoV-2. According to the creators, time of the complete analysis for RNA search of pathogen COVID-19 is less than 30 minutes. The device is designed for mobile use in laboratories and testing facilities, emergency medical teams, and sports medicine doctors.
